Quality control

Quality control

Quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) are key steps in the MDPI workflow. QA is a proactive step taken prior to digitization to make certain that the products produced by the media preservation system will meet specifications.

Quality control is reactive and occurs after digitization has taken place to certify that all products meet specifications and are suitable for long-term preservation. Memnon has its own internal QA and QC workflow that operates before files are delivered to IU for further inspection. Because Memnon is expected to produce 36 TB of data and 1,200 digital files per day at its peak, it's not possible for IU to examine every file, so we take a random sampling for QC. IU has three full-time QC specialists for checking work done by both Memnon and the IU Media Digitization Studios.
