Memnon-Sony Partnership

Memnon partners with Indiana University

Memnon Archiving Services, a world leader in media digitization based in Brussels, has partnered with Indiana University to digitize the University’s recordings.

The Memnon digitization facility is located in the Innovation Center building on IU’s Bloomington campus. Using industrial-scale parallel transfer workflows, with one operator digitizing multiple recordings at once, the facility will produce as much as 9 TB per day for the IU project. While Memnon staff from its Brussels facility has been in residence during the startup phase, Memnon is hiring locally and regionally for many of its positions.

In July 2015, Memnon was acquired by Sony Europe Ltd. Sony’s technical prowess, combined with Memnon’s world-class digitization workflows and Indiana University’s long experience with preservation issues and IT development, will serve not only IU’s preservation efforts but lead to increased opportunities to address urgent media preservation challenges.
